Mckinney Recognized for Planning Excellence by American Planning Association (APA)

The Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) awarded the City of McKinney’s Planning Department with 2015 Certificate of Achievement for Planning Excellence. This certificate recognizes the professional planning standards demonstrated by the city’s planning staff as well as the funding and support exhibited by the City Council and Planning and Zoning Commission. The city has received this recognition 14 times in the past 15 years.

To earn this award, the City of Mckinney achieved the Texas APA chapter goals for increasing awareness of professional planning, earning professional certifications, enhancing neighborhood and citizen recognition of planning efforts, encouraging the funding of professional training for commissioners and staff, and aiding in economic development and community image.

Brian Lockley, AICP, was recently named the Director of Planning for the City of McKinney. He has served as Interim Planning Director since July.
