Mark your calendars for PorchFest — a unique live music festival now in its second year hosted by the new home community of Tucker Hill on Saturday, June 10, 2017, from 5 p.m. until dusk. This free event will feature live bands staged on six of Tucker Hill’s quaint front porches that surround and lead to the community’s central park area, known as Founders Square. The evening highlight is a concert-on-the-lawn featuring Moving Colors. This high-energy band is known for its wide variety of musical styles (oldies classics to today’s top hits!), inventive bucket percussion routines (think “Stomp!” but cooler!), unique artwork created right on stage, a guitarist who does handstands while he plays, and big-voiced female vocalists!
As attendees stroll the Tucker Hill neighborhood and enjoy front porch concerts, they can also peruse a pop-up Artisan’s market with almost 20 vendors, enjoy a complimentary wine tasting hosted by McKinney’s Mitas Hill Vineyard, and grab a gourmet burger slider from Arete’s food truck followed by a cold treat from Rita’s Italian Ice. KLAK -97.5 Radio will be on site with a live remote broadcast and registering people for fun prizes, including a one-year lease on a 2017 Jeep Wrangler from Dodge City of McKinney. The entire event is family friendly, open to the public and FREE of charge.
PorchFest is a signature Southern Land Company community event and Tucker Hill’s version is modeled after the extremely successful PorchFest held annually in Franklin, Tennessee’s Westhaven community. With a simple concept — invite the musicians and provide them their stages on residents’ front porches — bands and acoustic singers will showcase their talent during PorchFest. Residents volunteer their porches as a way to support the local music scene and interact with their neighbors.
Porch band performances and all activities will begin at 5:00 pm. Moving Colors will be closing out the evening with a concert-on-the-lawn beginning at 7:00pm and concluding at dusk. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets or chairs to set up as they stop to enjoy not only the porch bands, but also the main stage concert.
Performance schedules, band bios, and a map showing where porch bands will be located are available on www.TuckerHillTX.com. Signage will also be placed throughout the community to assist in finding our porch bands. Up-to-date event information also found www.facebook.com/TuckerHillTexas and www.twitter.com/TuckerHillTX.
The community of Tucker Hill is located in McKinney, just north of Hwy. 380 between Ridge and Custer Roads. Our master builder partners include SLC Homebuilding, LLC, Darling Homes, and David Weekley Homes.
