Last week, Allen Texas joined neighboring cities of Plano, Anna and Lewisville by approving the sale of liquor. The approval is only for off-premise consumption.
Earlier, only beer and wine could be sold in stores. This is good news for big alcohol retailers like Goody Goody and Spec’s. Total Wine was instrumental in the push to get liquor approved.
The Yes vote was about 61%. The people who voted expressed concerns what this change would mean to the city’s culture and character 15-20 years from now.
